Gretna fluoridating: Amount might be cut It's official. Fluoride is being added to the Gretna water system. Dick Andrews, city water and wastewater operator, reported to the City Council this month that the fluoridation system was working and set at 1 part per million. Gretna voters last May approved the addition of fluoride to the city's water supply. But Gretna is reviewing whether to change the rate to 0.7 ppm. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Jan. 7 proposed that the recommended level of fluoride be set at the lowest end of the current optimal range, 0.7 to 1.2 milligrams. |
